We connect you with an authentic way to experience San Blas: staying in a bungalow on an island, waking up to the sound of the sea, and experiencing the rhythm of a territory preserved and managed by the Guna people. Here, the value of the experience lies in the destination, the scenery, and the connection with nature.
Staying on an island in San Blas means experiencing hospitality provided by the Guna people. San Blas, or Guna Yala — the name that reflects the local identity — is an autonomous Indigenous territory preserved and managed by its own communities. Tourism here does not follow the model of large hotels or resorts: the islands, access, transportation, and accommodations operate according to local rules and the rhythm of the territory.
The experience is simple and deeply connected to the destination: sleep in a bungalow on an island, enjoy meals prepared with local ingredients, wake up to the sound of the sea, and experience San Blas as it really is. We connect you with this experience while providing guidance, support, and clear expectation-setting before your trip.

To better enjoy the experience and the Cayos Holandeses area, we recommend a 3-night stay, especially for travelers who are comfortable with adventure travel, ecotourism, and remote destinations. The minimum reservation is 2 nights.
Important:
Before confirming your reservation, tell us about any food allergies, intolerances, or dietary preferences. Because this experience takes place on a remote island, we need to confirm in advance whether your needs can be accommodated.
Shared 4×4 ground transportation:
a 4×4 vehicle picks you up at the hotel listed in your reservation at around 5:00 a.m. This is the only departure time for the land route to Guna Yala. The drive takes approximately 3 hours. Most of the road is paved, and the route is quite winding.
Entry control into Guna territory: before entering Guna Yala, you will pass through a local checkpoint. Passports for all guests must be presented so local authorities can verify the reservation. Guna Yala is an autonomous Indigenous territory with its own rules for access, transportation, and tourism.
Boat boarding to the island: after the checkpoint, you will reach a locally managed “port,” where there is normally a wait of about 1 hour in the area indicated by your driver. You will then board the speedboat to the accommodation. The ride takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on wind and sea conditions.
The “port” waiting area has no tourist infrastructure. Anything you may need during the trip should be purchased in Panama City beforehand. San Blas also has no hospitals, ATMs, banks, conventional stores, restaurants, bars, or nightclubs. Understanding the destination before booking is essential to confirm that it matches your expectations. If you are looking for parties, open bars, or all-inclusive resorts, San Blas is probably not the right destination.
Stay in a beachfront bungalow in San Blas managed by a Guna family in the remote Cayos Holandeses area. It is ideal for travelers looking for an authentic experience away from the archipelago’s busier areas, surrounded by clear water and preserved natural scenery.
The accommodation is simple and comfortable, with a private bathroom, mosquito-netted bed, fan, local meals, and the sea just steps from the bungalow. As throughout Guna Yala, freshwater and electricity are limited resources, which is part of the reality of a remote, community-based destination.
If you are looking for beachfront accommodation in San Blas and want to experience the essence of the archipelago, this can be an excellent option. If your priority is hotel-style infrastructure with air conditioning, hot water, and conventional services, we recommend considering other alternatives.
Ideal for travelers who want to experience San Blas while moving between different islands and landscapes. On a shared catamaran in San Blas, you reserve a private cabin and share the onboard experience with other travelers.
Life aboard allows you to sail between islands, anchor in clear Caribbean waters, and experience different areas during the same trip. This option combines comfort, social interaction, and the possibility of discovering more than one part of the archipelago.
Both options are special ways to experience San Blas, but they shouldn’t be chosen only based on the investment amount. We help you understand which one best matches your profile and expectations.
By land: a shared 4x4 leaves Panama City at around 5:00 a.m. and picks you up at the hotel listed in your reservation. This is the only departure time allowed under the local Guna transportation schedule. After approximately three hours on the road, there is usually about a one-hour wait at the locally managed port. A speedboat then takes you to your catamaran or island accommodation, typically in about 1 to 1.5 hours. The complete trip usually takes around five hours, although timing varies.
By air: a private small aircraft departs from a hangar in Panama City and reaches San Blas in approximately 40 minutes. Reference pricing generally ranges from USD 250 to USD 350 per person, depending on the travel period, passenger count, route, total weight, and aircraft required.
It depends on the experience. Catamarans offer different comfort levels, including some options with air conditioning. Bungalows do not have air conditioning and rely on natural Caribbean ventilation. If A/C is essential for your comfort, tell us before booking so we can recommend compatible options.
It depends on the option. Most catamaran cabins have private bathrooms, although some have shared bathrooms. All bungalows have a private bathroom. We recommend telling us your priorities so we can guide you accurately.
Shared catamarans require a minimum of 3 nights, while we recommend 4 to 6 nights for a better balance of sailing, island time, and flexibility. Island stays have a 2-night minimum.
Connectivity is limited. Some catamarans offer Starlink, while others may rely on cellular service or have no connection. The bungalows have Starlink. Because San Blas is remote, connectivity can be interrupted for hours or longer.
Yes. Children are welcome, but San Blas Shared is designed primarily for couples, small groups of friends, and adults comfortable sharing the experience with other guests. Depending on the children's ages and the family's needs, a private Anemoi San Blas experience may offer more privacy, flexibility, and comfort.
No. We do not operate fixed routes or island-by-island itineraries. Weather, wind, currents, local logistics, and other guests' arrivals and departures influence the route. The captain plans each day with safety, comfortable navigation, and the overall quality of the experience as priorities.
Due to the characteristics of the experience, the destination, and the options, it’s normal to have many questions, and we are here to help you.
Every traveler looks for something different in San Blas. Our team helps you compare shared catamarans and bungalows, clarify questions, and choose the option most compatible with your profile, expectations, and budget.
