This page introduces three of the best-known areas to help you understand the distances, scenery, and logistics that shape each experience.
Cayos Limones is a group of islands and one of the most accessible areas of San Blas from the port. Many island bungalows are concentrated here, along with a large share of the day trips offered in the archipelago.
Because it is closer to the only land-access route, this area generally receives more visitors than more remote parts of San Blas.
Cayos Coco Bandero is a group of small islands farther from the main land-access area of San Blas. Surrounded by reefs, closely spaced islands, and water in multiple shades of blue, it features much of the scenery travelers associate with the archipelago.
Because of its location, Coco Bandero is normally visited by travelers staying aboard catamarans or sailboats. It often serves as a starting or ending area for our shared catamaran experiences.
Cayos Holandeses is a remote area that requires enough time, suitable conditions, and compatibility with the catamaran’s operating schedule. Located in the northwestern outer area of the archipelago, it has become increasingly sought after by travelers inspired by images shared online.
Reaching Cayos Holandeses during a shared catamaran experience depends on the number of nights booked, weather and sea conditions, and other guests’ arrival and departure schedules. A stay of four nights or more increases the possibility of reaching more distant areas, but it does not guarantee a visit to any specific island.
San Blas is in the Caribbean and has a tropical climate, with warm temperatures throughout the year. It can be visited in any season. Even on cloudy or rainy days, temperatures generally remain warm enough to enjoy the sea.
The region lies south of the Caribbean’s main hurricane track, so direct impacts are uncommon. However, distant weather systems can still temporarily affect winds, currents, and sea conditions.
San Blas does not have a cold winter. The main seasonal differences involve rainfall frequency, wind intensity, and sea conditions rather than temperature.
In many cases, an isolated shower affects the appearance of the scenery more than the condition of the sea. With less sunlight, the water may look less blue or transparent in photos even though it remains warm. Tropical weather can also change throughout the day, alternating between rain, clouds, and sunshine. A rain icon in a forecast does not necessarily mean rain all day or throughout your stay.
Heavy rain can make transfers less comfortable, but rain alone usually has less operational impact than strong winds and rough sea conditions.
For catamaran experiences and speedboat transfers, wind direction and intensity, currents, and swell directly influence sailing comfort, transfer conditions, anchorage choices, the regions that can be visited, and activities such as snorkeling and kayaking.
A cloudy day with a passing shower can still have calm seas. A sunny day can have strong winds and less comfortable sailing conditions. Crews therefore assess the overall weather and sea conditions rather than focusing only on sun or rain.
Panama is a narrow country between two oceans. Panama City is on the Pacific side, while San Blas is on the Caribbean side. These areas are influenced by different winds, humidity, currents, and weather systems. It can rain in Panama City while San Blas is sunny — or the opposite.
Panama City’s forecast should not be used as a direct reference for island conditions. Weather coverage in San Blas is also more limited than in major urban areas, and apps often show broad regional trends rather than precise conditions for each part of the archipelago.
Historically, December through May tends to have a lower chance of rain, while June through November tends to be wetter. That does not mean it will rain throughout a trip, and wetter periods can sometimes have calmer seas depending on wind conditions. No season guarantees blue skies every day.
We recommend choosing the period that best fits your availability and the type of experience you want, understanding that San Blas is a tropical destination where nature is part of the journey.
We are San Blas specialists. We visit the islands, know the catamarans and accommodations, and explain the differences between each option so you can make an informed decision.
From your first contact through your return to Panama City, our team supports you. We guide you through the logistics and remain available throughout each stage of your experience.
We work only with catamarans and accommodations that meet our standards for quality, safety, and respect for Guna culture and the environment.

Posted on Google
