We connect travelers with shared catamaran experiences and island stays in San Blas, providing clear guidance, personalized support, and respect for Guna culture and the natural environment.
We created San Blas Shared in response to growing demand for different ways to experience the San Blas Islands.
We bring together two distinct ways to explore the archipelago: private cabins aboard shared catamarans and bungalows on an island. Our role is to explain each option clearly — its setup, day-to-day dynamics, comfort level, and logistics — so you can choose based on your own expectations.
We believe tourism in San Blas should respect nature, Guna culture, and the social and cultural organization of the Guna people. We therefore encourage responsible practices, conscious use of local resources, and renewable-energy solutions such as the solar panels used aboard catamarans and at island accommodations.
In San Blas, each experience adapts to natural conditions, the length of your stay, and local logistics, with guidance and support throughout the trip.
San Blas is a remote destination with limited resources and a fragile ecosystem. We guide travelers to avoid leaving waste on beaches or in the sea, reduce unnecessary daytime use of air conditioning, prioritize local products, and respect closed seasons when lobster and crab fishing is prohibited.
Guna Yala is an autonomous Indigenous territory with its own authorities, rules, and systems of organization. We operate within these rules and guide travelers on how to respect them while experiencing the islands.
We support each traveler during the planning process, answering questions about transportation, luggage, infrastructure, the dynamics of the experience, and how to prepare for a remote destination. We do not use bots or automated customer service: you speak directly with a person who knows San Blas and pays attention to your needs, questions, and expectations.
We explain the setup, comfort level, shared-living dynamics, and limitations of each option transparently. That way, you know what to expect before booking and can choose the experience that best fits your expectations.
Our catamarans and island accommodations use solar panels to generate part of the energy they need, reducing dependence on fuel and continuous generator use.
We are Fabiana and Danilo, founders of San Blas Shared. Our story with San Blas began with a decision that completely changed our lives: we left our routine on land to live aboard our own sailboat and make the sea our home.
Danilo is a sailor with hands-on experience in navigation, life aboard, and nautical operations. Fabiana has a background and experience in management, marketing, and customer service. Together, we combine technical knowledge, organization, and attentive support throughout each stage of the experience.
Living in San Blas allowed us to understand the archipelago beyond the images seen online. We learned its distances, natural conditions, infrastructure limitations, logistics, and especially the rules that govern Guna territory.
We respect the autonomy of local communities and operate according to the rules established in Guna Yala. For us, experiencing San Blas also means recognizing that this is an Indigenous territory with its own culture, authorities, and systems of organization — all of which must be respected by both businesses and travelers.
Our passion for the sea and sailing is directly connected to how we manage San Blas Shared. We do more than present accommodation options: we explain how each experience works, what its characteristics are, and what travelers should consider before choosing between a private cabin on a shared catamaran and a bungalow on an island.
We want every traveler to arrive in San Blas with clear information, realistic expectations, and the confidence of having a team that knows the destination and is present during both the planning process and the experience.
